Little White Lies Weekly

I have been commissioned to produce several front covers for Little White Lies Weekly magazine app.

The first is of Kurt Russell in the film ‘Bone Tomahawk’.

The second illustration was a conceptual piece for the film ‘Son of Saul’.

The third illustration is a portrait of Matt Damon for the ‘Jason Bourne’ film.

The fourth is a portrait of Oscar winning actor Mahershala Ali for his ‘Best supporting actor’ role in ‘Moonlight’, winner of ‘Best picture’ at the Oscars 2017.

Star Wars illustrations for Cross Pens

I have recently created a set of illustrations for Cross, America’s oldest manufacturer of fine writing instruments.

Cross have been working in conjunction with Disney to produce a new range of pens for the new Star Wars film. This special collection of pens honours the original Star Wars film trilogy with each design themed to feature the colour palette of three major characters; Darth Vader, C3P0 and the Storm Trooper. Design overlays and the addition of an emblem representing each character also bring the spirit of each to life.

I’ve used each specifically designed pen to create the artworks for the relevant characters. Each illustration is off-set by a spray painted colour background.

The illustrations are being gifted to various media organisations all of which you can follow on my Twitter.

Many thanks to Cross and Cirkle PR for their support in this extremely enjoyable project.

Please visit www.cross.com to view the Star Wars range.

ITV News: Dean Waite article

Following on from the article about my artwork in The Londonist, I was extremely fortunate to have been contacted by ITV News who wanted to do a similar article about me for their website. Please click here to check it out.

The Londonist: Dean Waite article

I was fortunate enough to have The Londonist write a small article on me and my artwork.

The Londonist website is about London and everything that happens in it; celebrating the quirks, eccentricities, hidden and surprising bits that make up the alternative side of the city.

Branding for Anderson Shelter Productions

I am delighted to unveil the logo design I’ve created for Anderson Shelter Productions. The logo is heavily influenced by the traditional crest of the Scottish clan Anderson represented by the large oak tree. The oak tree sits on an arch connoting the small prefabricated Anderson air-raid shelters of World War II created without detriment to the simple, stylised design.

‘Starcross’ film poster artwork

I have now completed the poster artwork for the film ‘Starcross’ directed by Ash Morris. The poster design is created using black biro and ink on paper and has taken several months to complete. I wish Ash the best of luck with the film and would like to thank him and Brendan Coyle for their support in this project. I will keep you updated with details of the films’ release date.

Delighted to work with Brendan Coyle’s Anderson Shelter Productions

I am delighted to announce that I am now working with Brendan Coyle and his production company Anderson Shelter Productions. I will be designing and illustrating promotional artwork for both film and theatre productions as well as events that are endorsed and produced by Anderson Shelter Productions.

We are also currently planning the next solo exhibition of my artwork for next year which will be sponsored and curated by Brendan and Anderson Shelter Productions. Both the date and venue of the exhibition are to be confirmed.

I’d like to thank Brendan & Anderson Shelter Productions for this exciting opportunity and look forward to working with him and his team!

Brendan has also both commissioned and purchased some original artwork from me. If you wish to do the same, please contact me directly via the ‘About’ page on my website or visit www.artgallery.co.uk/artist/dean_waite.

Presentation for ELMO Master Class at The Whitechapel Gallery

On Wednesday 4th December 2014 I was honoured to be asked to do a presentation for young people aged 16-25 at The Whitechapel Gallery as part of the ELMO (East london Mobile Workshop) Master Class. The aim of the event was to inform young people of the ‘realities’ of working in the arts, creative and craft industries and give them the opportunity to meet with practising artists as well as staff from the Whitehapel Gallery.

It was a very successful night with a huge turnout! Thank you to ELMO and The Whitechapel Gallery for having me!

‘London Calling’ 22nd – 27th August 2013

‘London Calling’ was Dean Waite’s first solo show at 5th Base Gallery, just off Brick Lane, London E1.

Dean Waite uses a contemporary photorealist style to create intricate, illustrative work. Blending a British aesthetic with reference to pop and mod culture; his work makes the familiar exotic and reinterprets iconic imagery of the 1960’s through to present times.

The artist mixes mediums, with a focus on ink drawing, spray paint and graphite.
